Alice Tran

Blend

From the artist

‘My artwork, titled “Blend”, is a digital illustration that was created using the drawing app Procreate on iPad. The abstract line work, paired with textured colour blocks in shades of blue capture the merging of a woman with her background and the background with her body—a play on the slight visual distortion that occurs when bodies make contact with the water’s surface. In this moment when her body mass and the water briefly blend into one, the rules of physics appear broken, replaced by a blended sense of contentment and control.’

Alice Tran is an illustrator and art director based in Sydney. After graduating with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications, she found herself stumbling into her day job in creative advertising as a graphic designer and art director where she stayed for almost 4 years. Her role in creative advertising provided her the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in branding, motion and print design, while also helping to deepen her illustration practice. When she’s not making ads, she’s creating illustration commissions on the side, or tending to her indoor plants.
